2023 Citizens of the Year Award

Utah—West Valley City Police Department along with the West Valley City Honorary Colonels Association held their annual Employee Appreciation and Awards banquet Friday, May 10, 2024.

 

This banquet recognizes outstanding performances and accomplishments by Law Enforcement and Civilians assisting Law Enforcement during the previous year… 2023.

 

One of the awards, which was 2023 Citizens of the Year award went to Dee Dillman/K9s Rhum and Coke and Marie Ginman/K9 Booze.

 

Homicide Unit personnel had been investigating a missing persons case which was possibly part of a triple murder. Dee and Marie were contacted by unit detectives and asked to search a remote, mountainous area in the west desert of Utah.

 

On April 22, 2023, Dee and Marie communicated strong K9 alerts to unit personnel. They waited outside the scene until personnel arrived and confirmed the presence of human skeletal remains. It was confirmed that this site was indeed a crime scene related to the missing persons investigation.

 

West Valley City Police Department recognized Dee, Marie Rhum, Coke and Booze for assisting with this and many other cases. This was a heinous crime which provided family and loved ones some answers in order to seek justice.
